Need an Official Record?
Portage County records are divided by the agency that created or maintains them:
- Court case files: contact the Portage County Clerk of Circuit Court for filed documents, judgments, certified copies, and transcripts
- State criminal histories: use the Wisconsin DOJ Crime Information Bureau and its Wisconsin Online Record Check System
- Arrest and booking files: request records created by the Portage County Sheriff from its Records Division
- Police incident reports: ask the city, campus, or other police agency that wrote the report
- Expungement records: contact the circuit clerk about the court file and current forms under Wis. Stat. § 973.015
- Registry or corrections data: use the Wisconsin DOC system responsible for that record
